The Torn Veil

On a hill far away,

In another place and time.

Nailed to a blood-stained cross.

Were all the sins of yours and mine.

The Son of God lay down His life,

Just as the Father planned.

It paved a way for all of us,

To enter the Promised Land.

As Jesus cried out His last words,

The earth began to quake.

The sky turned black; thunder roared,

The crowd began to shake.

Lightning flashed, the people ran,

There remained only a faithful few.

The veil into the Holy of Holies,

From top to bottom, was torn in two.

Once separated, now free!

Man could enter God’s Holy Presence.

To offer up prayers of thanksgiving,

And to ask for His forgiveness.

Jesus is the High Priest,

On our behalf He intervenes.

That we may receive God’s Mercy,
And Grace, to help us in our time of need.

At that moment the curtain of the temple

was torn in two from top to bottom.
